  • What was the most memorable/impressive experience?
The most impressive thing during my stay was my host family's words. I planned to stay in the house for 1 month and move to another house, but they suggested "If you want to stay here longer than you planned, you can. We want you to stay here because you are the best guest in this house ever." I was really surprised and delighted. Although I ended up deciding to go back to Japan due to the COVID-19 pandemic, their words gave me confidence.
  • What was the most crucial thing in preparation before leaving Japan?
Before you go abroad, it is important to learn about a field that you want to learn at the university. If you previously learn about the field, it would help you a lot. In my case, I previously learned about Second Language Acquisition in TWCU. Although it might be just a beginner level, I was able to understand a fundamental part of a lecture in Australia, and I could deeply learn about the field from other country's view.
  • What was the biggest hardship you faced?
It was hard to decide whether I should return to Japan or not because of the COVID-19 pandemic. I checked all the information released by both Australian and Japanese government every day, and made my decision in every phase. It was really stressful for me. However, now I proud of myself and the experience, because not so many people went through this situation. Also, online classes are still difficult. Although I have an opportunity to talk with native speakers, it is hard to talk with them fluently without seeing their faces.
