  • What skill did you gain the most (academically or socially)?
I guess it would be the ability to enjoy my life. As a person born and raised in the breathless bustle of Tokyo, where people are likely to be too busy to think about themselves as well as other people or random trivial things, I think it broadened my perspective to live in such a peaceful, relaxing, and yet vibrant place.
  • What was the biggest hardship you faced?
It is definitely the extensive weekly readings. They were dreadful amounts and the language barrier made them worse. At first, I really struggled to finish reading the essential readings before tutorials. After asking my friends the skimming techniques, however, I gradually managed to read all of them and even have spare time for me to think the contents over.
  • What was the most memorable/impressive experience?
Though I have had plenty of splendid experiences over the past year in England, the first thing that came to my mind is to have visited the headquarter office of an NGO in London that I have been working for with my friends. We were very kindly given an opportunity to interview a few employees for an hour. It was quite fascinating to know how they work, what they think and believe, and what they see in our generation.
