  • What was the most memorable/impressive experience?
The most memorable experience for me was the first time I entered a store in Japan. Right after I came in, they yelled "irasshaimase" with loud voices and constantly smiled at me whenever we made eye contact. I felt a bit of shocked at first, but at the same time I was impressed by their service and how professional they were at work.
  • What skill did you gain the most (academically or socially)?
I learned a lot from the way Japanese interact with people. I'm becoming more considerate of how other people may feel, what they may need or what may hurt them before saying something to them. However, I still have to learn more to understand, to respect and empathize with people from different cultural backgrounds.
  • What was the biggest hardship you faced?
Kanji was and still is my biggest hardship. I still forget how to read and write some of them sometimes, so I spend a lot more time on reviewing old words and learning new words, along with their kanjis whenever I could.
