What was your proudest accomplishment during your stay?

I received great grades in one of the most prestigious universities in the world because I applied myself to the fullest in each class and worked hard. In addition, I was engaged in various parts of the community through my participation in activities such as volunteering and tutoring outside of my classes.
What skill did you gain the most (academically or socially)?

My English ability has made improvements and I have also enhanced my social and communication skills as well. Due to the high level of diversity in Washington state, I can respect various types of people from all over the world without feeling bias or discrimination toward their nationality, race, religion, and background.
What was the biggest hardship you faced?

The most difficult thing that I had faced during my study abroad period was a lack of sleep because of the preparation and review of class materials I needed for each session. I struggled a lot with our English readings, which could be more than 300 pages per week. However, I also wanted to foster a close/ intimate relationship with my host family and friends at the same time, so it was pretty hard for me to maintain a balance between my studies and my life outside of classwork. I appreciate that I could get used to life in the University of Washington because of the special English education given in Tokyo Woman's Christian University.
