TWCU's Grand Vision

'Tokyo Woman's Christian University's Grand Vision' has been created in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the university as an institute of learning deeply rooted in the spirit of Christianity, and for the purpose of nurturing women who, as cultivated people with professional expertise, are able to make a constructive contribution to society and to humankind as a whole in the 21st century.

  1. To nurture women who, in the spirit of Christianity, can make a constructive contribution towards solving the problems faced by society and humankind as a whole
  2. To educate women able to make their way in the globalized, information society of the 21st century, and play a positive role on the international stage 
  3. To devote great effort to reforming the content and methods of education offered by the university, such as will generate in our students the independent will to learn, and the desire to continue to learn throughout their lives
  4. To develop and expand the university's liberal arts education, a field essential for fostering cultivated people with professional expertise, in such a way that it relates to contemporary society 
  5. To offer support in the field of career designing, in order that our students might establish themselves as women in careers which will sustain them for their entire future 
  6. To strengthen relationships with stakeholders and society in general, and to become a university which has the approval and support of society as a whole 
  7. To maintain a good learning environment, and to offer facilities and equipment appropriate for an institute of higher education in contemporary society 
  8.  To strengthen financial support, and expand opportunities for further educational and research programs

  1. The development of the Project-Based Learning method of education designed to create the ability to deal with difficulties and solve problems
